June 29, 2010

Fraternities practice different rituals and traditions when it comes to their hazing requirements. However, it should be done with care and shouldn’t be too risky for any pledge member who wants to join them. For instance, there are some hazing stories in the past where some individuals were severely injured. What’s even sadder is that there are some reports which indicate that there are some individuals that died because of hazing.
For instance, 2005 was a controversial year for the Chico State Unviersity when fraternity members made Matthew Carrington and Mike Quintana drink massive amount of water and fanned them with icy air despite their wet bodies. In addition to that, the two were also required to do a lot of tiring activities which lead to Carrington to excessive urination and vomiting. Eventually, he collapsed and had seizure when his body couldn’t take it anymore. He was already dead when he was taken to the hospital
